Man City enter the KC Stadium on a run of 5 wins in their previous 6 games and appearing to be in fine form under new boss Mancini. The new City side are however yet to face one of the top four in league competition although were applauded for a strong performance against champions Utd in the cup.
Expect both Vieira and Johnson to make their Manchester City debuts after joining the club in the January transfer window. Their arrivals however may be clouded by the returning Wayne Bridge. A knee knock has kept the star out for over two months and since then the non-football situation regarding his partner and John Terry has flooded the media with City players standing up in favour of their absent teammate. While City fans will appluad the return of their victimised player, the media will continue to fuel the story in the upcoming weeks, but for most – at the end of the day, it’s football, and results are what matter, not what bed a Chelsea player has done sleepy times in.

Hull striker Geovanni was the subject of transfer speculation in January and although still at the club will be absent due to a medial ligament injury. The Tigers will expect to feature Olofinjana in their squad after the player made his return from Africa. While City appear excited to debut both Vieira and Johnson the side will be missing Richards and Kompany due to knocks. Joleon Lescott will start on the substitutes bench after recovering from a knee knock and of course, we await the return of Wayne Bridge after being passed fit from a knee injury.

The Reds enter the Premier League’s 213th derby between the Merseyside clubs aware of the fact that victory will send the Anfield Club above Spurs temporarily before their London rivals get down to action later in the day. 2009 ended as a bitter affair for Liverpool with both club and manager under extreme pressure from fans and the media, however since then, Rafa Benitez has guided his side into a run that has seen Liverpool take 14 points from a possible 18 on offer. With The Reds facing an Everton side who have failed to win in the red half of Liverpool for over 10 years, confidence will be running at a a high all through The Red’s dressing room. Liverpool have tightened things up at the back and have only lost one goal in their last 6 matches.
Everton will be entering the match with one eye on once again capturing a European spot for next season. The Toffees were defeated at Goodison Park earlier in the season, however since that match are undefeated in 9 outings in the Premiership. Once again, Everton’s success was left to the head of the smallest man on the pitch as Tim Cahill headed another winning strike into the net as Wigan were brushed aside. The striker continues his fine form but competition will be weighted in his direction as Louis Saha has agreed an extension on his contract with The Toffees.

Liverpool will enter the Merseyside derby hoping to continue their good run of form and continue their 6 match unbeaten run. Dirk Kuyt still awaits his half-century strike for The Reds and the Dutch playmaker will be given another chance to shine in front of an expectant Anfield support. Everton have not lost a league game since November and regardless of Liverpool’s improved form, will know that the Reds are still not at their absolute peak and David Moyes will once again adopt an all-out-attack strategy against the club’s rivals.
Pool welcome back Aurelio after the defender recovered from an injured calf picked up in late 2009. It is yet unknown if he will be included in Benitez’ starting plans. Spanish star Torres is once again out joining Glen Johnson on the sidelines with a knee knock. Benayoun remains out with bruised ribs. Everton welcome back both Yobo and Yakubu after the AFCON 2010 tournament came to an end. The players are both likely to slot straight into David Moye’s line-up against Liverpool. Influential winger Mikel Arteta is fit and may be included however the match comes too early for the returning Hibbert and Jagielka.
