Panathinaikos FC continue their bid to chase the Greek Superleague leaders with a home tie against AO Kerkyra this evening. PAO have suffered some troubled form as of late and with eight points dropped since mid February, the club’s hopes of taking top spot in the Super League of Greece have dwindled greatly. PAE AO Kerkyra meanwhile are looking to move back up the table after some poor form in recent weeks saw the club fall to 11th place in the Greek football table.

PAO were in action last weekend and a 3-1 away victory saw the club get back on track after three matches without a win. A double from Petropoulos was reacted to by Ngwat-Mahop’s 36th minute strike from the home side. It proved to be only a consolation as PAO extended their lead with a Christodoulopoulos goal in the 83rd minute to win the match 3-1.
Three defeats from their previous three Super League matches is a poor statistic for Kerkyra who will face an uphill struggle against the giants from Athens. Last weekend saw a 4-3 home defeat to Aris with the club twice taking the lead. Maznow opened the scoring and a reply from Aris saw AO Kerkyra once again take the lead through Grammozis. Three goals in quick succession from Koke, Castillo and Lazaridis put Aris 4-2 up before Kerkyra’s final bow with a Veronesi strike that proved to be only a consolation in an excellent match in Greek Football.
